Overview
Managing projects in the development sector is fast-paced and complex, with project managers facing implementation challenges internally and externally. While speaking the language of project management, understanding the basic lifecycle of any project, and having a working knowledge of the available tools are essential elements of getting the job done, the skill of knowing how to successfully integrate new tools is both an art and a science. Building on the PMD Pro curriculum, this workshop focuses on putting the concepts of project management into practice through the application of tools.
What You Will Learn
In this highly-participatory workshop, participants will practice applying the tools, skills, and knowledge of project management to project-based work.
Areas of focus include:
- Schedule and resource control
- Role clarity in project management
- Risk and scope management
Walk away with:
- A greater depth of knowledge in project management methodology in the international development sector
- A deeper understanding of how to apply project management skills, tools, and techniques in real- life scenarios
- Strategies for applying project management tools in your team
Who Should Attend
This workshop is intended for individuals who manage projects in their daily work. Since this workshop is a follow-on course to InsideNGO’s PMD Pro 1: The Essentials of Project Management workshop, some familiarity with the language of project management is strongly recommended. We suggest that participants be PMD Pro 1 certified or equivalent (eg. PMI) or have extensive experience working on projects (programmatic or operational).
InsideNGO is a global association of over 300 international relief and development organizations who share operational expertise, insights, and leading practices to better sustain organizations and support essential missions in changing times.
